The 38th Annual Day in the Park, sponsored by the Hopedale Cultural Council, will be held  on Saturday, September 16, 2017, from 10am-4pm at the Hopedale Town Park located at the corners of Dutcher and Freedom/ Northrop Streets. A raindate has been set for the following day.  The popular juried art show, along with craft tables, live music, games, food vendors, and more  will highlight the day.  Applications for the juried art exhibit under the tent are available by calling 508-473-8753.  Applications for crafts table set-ups are available by contacting Paula at 508-478-8288.  Applications may also be found on the Town of Hopedale website: www.hopedale-ma.gov under Cultural Council.  Artists who enter the art show may opt to compete for awards upwards of $2,000.  A professional artist/juror will judge the work in each category of watercolors, oils and acrylics, photography and mixed media
The 38th Day in the Park has been referred to “a continuation of history in Hopedale,” as the Drapers, the owners of a large textile loom manufacturing company in Hopedale, held the town’s first “Field Day” in 1902.  The event was renamed after the Cultural Council became established in Hopedale.
Live music from local talented musicians, a magician, clowns, reptile show , crafts, plus and a wide variety of food will add to the pleasure of the day.  Kayaks and canoes will be available for rent from 10 a.m. to 2 p.m. near the bath house at Hopedale Pond.  Another memorable and historical attraction, The Little Red Shop Museum, will be open for tours during the day, free of charge.  The Museum is now included in the Blackstone River Valley National Park, a “must” tour.
Members of the Hopedale Cultural Council include Billi Manning, Sally Decelles, Ann LaBrode, Virginia Larkin, Joanne Andreotti, Ellen Murphy, Paula Galligan, Barbara Murphy, Kristy Loporoto, Kristy Brytowski, Jeannene Pasquarosa.   This year’s annual Day in the Park will be partially funded through a grant from the Massachusetts Cultural Council.  If weather is questionable on Saturday, September 16th, please contact Billi at 508-478-0929.
