The Town of Ashland officially opened “The Corner Spot” on June 28, 2017. This project was designed to create a community gathering place as well as serve as an incubator for pop-up businesses. It was funded solely by personal contributions from residents and businesses as well as grant funding through MassDevelopment’s Commonwealth Places funding program. 126 Self Storage’s “Top Corner” sponsorship highlights the strong business community in town and its support for economic development in Ashland.
The land at 6 Cherry Street, which is in the heart of Downtown Ashland is being transformed into a beautiful park that residents will enjoy throughout the summer and fall months. A new business will pop into the lovely storefront every few weeks. With the overall goal to revitalize downtown, “The Corner Spot” will not only provide an opportunity to expose Ashland to potential new businesses and create additional foot traffic downtown, but it will serve as a location for people to gather.
“The Corner Spot” will become a destination for people throughout the MetroWest Region. The goal is to bring community together and stimulate economic activity in Ashland. It will, without a doubt, be “the place to be” this summer. The Coffee Trike will be the first business to kick off the start of the season, followed by Firefly’s BBQ, The Ceramics Garage, Sweet Home Handmade and Jennifer’s Handmade Soaps. There will be more to follow as “The Corner Spot” will be open through October. The town is still accepting applications from businesses who wish to pop-up in Ashland. The Grand Opening place took on Wednesday, June 28th with a formal ribbon cutting ceremony followed by food trucks, music, and more!
