Ashland Farmers Market (AFM) will continue through Oct. 13 at 125 Front St., on the grass across from the library. The outdoor market is held Saturdays, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m.
“Our seventh season has been a great success. Despite a few rainy Saturdays—and even a tornado warning!—our attendance is up over last season,” Julia Chase, AFM president, said.
“Our Events Committee was busy in the off-season planning some amazing market days. They brought back some favorites—Strawberry Fest, Harvest Brunch and Ashland Kids Create—and added some new ones like Wine Cheese and Chocolate with a paint-at-the-market component. We’re also looking forward to Apple Fest—new this season—and an all-time favorite, our Pumpkin Painting Party,” Chase added.
The market will wind down in October with the following events:
October 6, Pumpkin Painting Party: An annual tradition, free pumpkins and paint will be available between 9 a.m. and noon for all children attending the market. All materials will be provided along with smocks to help protect clothing. Be aware that non-washable paints are used. Ashland High School Student Council members will be at the Town Tent. Peter Ward returns to perform blues, swing and classical country at the Scott Buchanan Bandstand from 10:30 a.m. to 12:30 p.m. Thinking fall, Rag Hill Farm will bring yarn and Second Chance Designs will bring repurposed wool items and the warmest mittens ever.
October 13: Last chance this season to stock up on local harvest items and your favorite foods and crafts at the outdoor market. AFM coordinators added this extra food and artisan-focused market day to satisfy customer demand.
Gift certificates for AFM are always available. SNAP is available and matched up to $20 per day at each market. Both can be found at the Market Host table.
Pre-Thanksgiving Market
The Pre-Thanksgiving market will be held on Saturday, Nov. 17, 9 a.m. to 1 p.m., at the Ashland Middle School Cafeteria. Shoppers can stock up on foods and traditional delicacies from 25 food vendors for their Thanksgiving table. In addition, artisans will make finding the perfect gift just a little bit easier with stocking stuffers, winter accessories and holiday-themed specials.
