It may only be the beginning of August, but parents are already thinking about packing those lunches and sending their kids off to school! Below are just a few of the many items that draw questions, especially for students new to Norwood or those entering a new school. While this is just a sampling, much more information and applicable forms can be obtained through the Norwood Public School or each individual school’s website at www.norwood.k12.ma.us.
Norwood Public Schools Student Registration Information
In order to register your child for school in the Norwood Public Schools for the 2019/2020 season, forms must be filled out by August 1, 2019.
Preschool Age Requirements:
The Norwood Integrated Preschool is a one or two year early childhood program for children living in Norwood. Children must be 3 years of age by August 31 of the year participating.
Kindergarten Age Requirements:
Children living in Norwood who are 5 years old by August 31 of the year participating may enroll in kindergarten at the Willett Early Childhood Center.
Required Forms:
Student Enrollment Form - one for each student enrolling in a district school
Copy of Birth Certificate, original Passport, or Visa
Health History Form - one for each student.
Proof of Residency - please read this form carefully
Residency Affidavit (only if applicable)
Recent physical examination and up-to-date immunizations are required. Visit www.norwood.k12.ma.us for more information.

Parent/Guardian Identification
In addition, each school may ask for additional information for parents and/or guardians.
Registration must be completed at the school. You may bring the completed forms to the school. If you do not have access to a computer or printer, the forms are available at the schools. Please call the school to make an appointment to complete the enrollment/registration process.

School Nutrition
Free & Reduced Food Services
2019-2020 Free and Reduced Application will be available August 19, 2019.
You may fill in the application electronically or complete a paper application. Paper applications will be available at the Food Service Office at the Savage Center, 275 Prospect St., as well as each school’s front office. Milk is available with all meals, or may be purchased for $.50
A variety of healthy snack items are sold in the cafe between $.50 and $1.00. All snack items meet and exceed the Massachusetts guidelines.

NHS August Athletic Schedules
Fall Cheerleading try-outs will be held on Saturday, August 24, Sunday, August 25, and Monday, August 26, 9:30-11:30 a.m., in the Norwood High School gym. All students need to be registered through the Aspen parent portal before trying out.
Varsity & JV football begin on Friday, August 16. Freshman football starts on Monday, August 19, and all other fall sports are eligible to start on Thursday, August, 22. Practice and game schedules were not posted at press time, but visit www.norwood.k12.ma.us/nhs/index for more information.
2019-2020 Student Bus Transportation Registration Information
Students in Grades 1 through 12 who plan to ride a bus must register, including students eligible for town-provided (free) transportation. Please note that the new full rate bus fee is $300 per student, with a family cap of $750. Students in grades 1-6 who live more than 2 miles from school, and all kindergarten students, do not have to pay a full rate fee. Kindergarten students will be issued a bus tag during school orientation and do NOT need to complete this form.
Reduced fee for pass Application/Payments need to be received on or before June 30.
All passes delivered to student's homeroom the first week of school registered by August 10.
Applications/Payments received July 1 or after will pay the full rate which includes an administrative fee. The $25 per rider administrative fee applies to all riders, including those for whom the fee is reduced or waived.

Senior Parking Passes
Parking Applications are available for Norwood High School seniors only throughout the summer. Bring a completed application (www.norwood.k12.ma.us/nhs/index) with a valid driver’s license, and a check for $100 made out to Norwood High School, to the main office. Parking tags and assignments will be available for pick up on Friday, August 23.
Juniors parking will open Tuesday, October 1.
