When Linda Wolverton wrote the screenplay for Beauty and the Beast, based on an old French fairy tale, little did she know it would be the first animated film nominated for an Academy Award for Best Picture. This popular story and musical went on to find fame on Broadway, in books, plus a remake of the film comes out this week.
This spring, Saint Catherine of Siena School (SCS) brings this story to life at the beautiful Norwood Theater.
The young talented cast has been rehearsing their lines and the beautiful music written by Alan Menkin, and lyrics written by Howard Ashman and Tim Rice.
Last year, the SCS middle school performed Fiddler on the Roof, led by directors Marisa Ferrara and Erin Costello. This year’s musical, under the same directors, will be just as entertaining.
SCS’s performance of Beauty and the Beast is sure to please everyone from ages 3 to 103!
The two performances are on Wednesday April 26, and Thursday April 27, 7:30 p.m., Norwood Theatre.
Tickets can be purchased at the door. $10 for adults, and $5 for adults and children under ten.
