Louis, the four month old kitten who was stolen from the Bay State Animal Cooperative (BSAC) adoption center within Norwood Petco, on January 16, was given special treatment with a ride in a Norwood Police car to return back home! On January 20, while following a tip from a caller who identified the suspect from Facebook posts, Norwood officers found Louis safe and sound and promptly returned him to surprised and grateful volunteers at the adoption center.
It was a true team effort to find and bring Louis home and BSAC would like to thank the following people who contributed to Louis' happy ending: their dedicated volunteers, the person who came forward to help locate the suspect, Fox 25 News, all their Facebook followers who tirelessly posted and shared information, a big shout out to Dana Holland for installing, maintaining and taking stills of the video that led to the arrest....and last, but certainly not least, Officer Baguma, Detective Gover and Sgt. Curran an all Norwood Police Department personnel for thoroughly and sincerely pursuing the case.
Once Louis was back at the adoption center, it took him no time at all to settle in playing and interacting with volunteers. He was immediately seen by the organization's veterinarian and was declared in good health. Bay State Animal Cooperative is happy that Louis will be going to his forever home very soon!
Bay State Animal Cooperative Needs a New Home!
Sadly, as a result of Louie's theft, BSAC's partnership was terminated with the Petco Foundation and Petco Corporation and were given seven days to leave the premises. Their disheartening decision is a grave disadvantage to the organization to quickly find long-term suitable care as it affects the other cats that are already waiting to go into the shelter, in addition to the ongoing long-term work with other cats who need assistance. BSAC is in desperate need of a space to continue their mission of rescuing, sheltering and adopting cats in need. They are seeking a shelter at a reduced cost or a donated space. Please contact them if you have space or know of space available at info@baystateanimals.org - thank you!
