Horses and cars and floats, OH MY! And that’s not all you’ll see at the Celebrate Holliston parade this year. Classic cars and antique trucks, bands, and scout troops will also come out to jump start a day of fun.
September 16, 2017 marks the 26th annual Celebrate Holliston event. The parade, which has become a fixture on the list of Celebrate Holliston festivities, strolls along the town’s streets, leading spectators to Goodwill Park, where the community gathers to support the town, meet friends, and learn about the various businesses and services Holliston has to offer. You’re probably thinking you’ve seen one parade you’ve seen them all. But this parade is unique.
Here’s what I really love about this parade: Anyone and everyone can be a part of it. That’s right! Everyone can join the fun. Kids, tune up your bicycles and decorate them any way you’d like. Parents and grandparents, dust off the Radio Flyer wagon and pull the youngest family members along the route. They’ll have a ball waving to the cheering crowd. Make a banner or flag that showcases your favorite charity or shows what it means to you to “Celebrate Holliston.” Feeling more ambitious? Gather some friends and create a float. You choose the theme and decorate it however you’d like; the sky’s the limit!
If marching in a parade isn’t your thing, come out and cheer on your neighbors. As you’re scrambling to collect the candy tossed to the crowd, take note of your favorite participant. Will it be the same one the judges select at the end?
Holliston residents know this is a special place to live. We actually know our neighbors. We WANT to support our local businesses, and the business owners WANT to provide what we need. It’s a give and take that benefits us all. So set aside September 16th to help celebrate all that makes Holliston what it is.
