Event:
Southwick’s Zoo is celebrating their 50th anniversary with special monthly events all season long! July’s event is Celtic Cool on Saturday, July 11. This event is not to be missed and will feature Celtic music and dancing within the zoo followed by an evening concert.
Celtic Cool’s daytime event will take place within Southwick’s Zoo and is included with the zoo’s regular admission rates. Visitors can look forward to guests, presentations, and shows throughout the day including performance by the Celtic Heels School of Irish Dance, the Sullivan School of Irish Dance, and members of the Worcester Kiltie Band.
Celtic Cool’s main highlight is the evening concert, from 6pm-9:30pm, featuring musicians appealing to fans of both traditional and modern folk music. Blackstone Cuil is a contemporary folk band known for their unique arrangements of traditional and contemporary songs. The Tom Lanigan Band, another musical group that expertly blends classic Irish folk with a modern sound, was started by Tom Lanigan who was born in Ireland and moved the United States as a teenager. The third band performing is Erin Guild. This high energy trio based out of Boston includes members from a range of musical backgrounds creating a unique musical experience for audiences. Irish fare and a cash bar will also be available for concert guests.
Concert tickets can be purchased at www.southwickszoo.com/evening-concerts/. Tickets for just the concert are $22. However, guests who wish to explore Southwick’s Zoo prior to the performances can purchase a ticket for $39 which includes the concert and combo admission to the zoo, including rides, after 3:00pm.
