Norwood town election will be held April 3

The Town of Norwood will be holding its Town Election on Monday, April 3. There are many residents who are throwing their hat in the ring for an endorsement to serve the town in many municipal areas. This is the time for Norwood residents to make a difference in their local government, whether they are pleased with their officials or ready for a change in leadership.
Six seats will be uncontested. The most competitive race will be for two of the 3-year Selectmen seats. Selectmen Paul Bishop and Allan Howard are both looking to retain their seats, but Kevin Pentowski has entered the race to fill one of the two positions currently available.
The second competitive race will be for a seat on the Finance Commission. Both John Hayes and Joseph Greeley are retiring and three residents are looking to fill the two seats: Robert Donnelly, David Hajjar and John Raymond Hall, Jr.
James Gormley and Lisa Igoe are relinquishing their positions on the School Committee and Maura Smith and Teresa Marie Steward are running uncontested.

Question #1
Shall the Town of Norwood adopt, and shall the Annual Town Meeting be authorized to adopt, the following amendments to the Town of Norwood By-Laws and the Norwood Zoning By-Laws:
A. An amendment to the By-Laws of the Town of Norwood, adding as Article XXXXV the following:
Article: XXXXV - Marijuana Establishments Prohibited
In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 94G, Section 3(a)(2)(i), all types of marijuana establishments, as defined in Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 94G, Section 1, to include, without limitation, all marijuana cultivators, marijuana testing facilities, marijuana product manufacturers, marijuana retailers, and any other types of licensed marijuana-related businesses, shall be prohibited within the Town of Norwood. This prohibition shall not be construed to affect the medical use of marijuana as expressly authorized by the provisions of Chapter 369 of the Acts of 2012 and 105 CMR 725.000 (as the same may be amended from time to time).
B. An amendment to the Norwood Zoning By-Laws, adding as Section 7.7 the following:
Section 7.7 - Marijuana Establishments Prohibited
In accordance with Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 94G, Section 3(a)(2)(i), all types of marijuana establishments, as defined in Massachusetts General Laws Chapter 94G, Section 1, to include, without limitation, all marijuana cultivators, marijuana testing facilities, marijuana product manufactures, marijuana retailers, and any other types of licensed marijuana-related businesses, shall be prohibited within the Town of Norwood. This prohibition shall not be construed to affect the medical use of marijuana as expressly authorized by the provisions of Chapter 369 of the Acts of 2012 and 105 CMR 725.000 (as the same may be amended from time to time).
