As spring approaches, Norwood residents' curiosity peaks as to this year's Dancing with the Norwood Stars competition. Who will be taking to the dance floor? Who will be crowned with the best performance? And, who will raise the most money for the Circle of Hope Foundation? Well, wait no further. The 2018 contestants have been announced! This year's dancers are: Mary Ann Gaetani, Ricky McGowen, Alex Brown, Erin Joyce, Brad Thornton and Jeff Mulroy.
While the exciting evening is still two months away, the dancers have already began their learning routines with the professional instructors through their commitment of weeks of dance lessons. In addition to their training, however, their contribution to the event is also raising money through fundraisers to earn money for the for the Circle of Hope. The incentive is twofold. Their benefits will raise money that is distributed to their Norwood neighbors and each dollar raised earns them a vote which will be added to their dance scores. On performance night, two winners will be crowned: an Overall Winner for the person who raises the most money and the Judges Choice for the best single dance.
This is where the Norwood community can join in the fun! For the next eight weeks, competitors will be hosting fundraisers throughout town through parties, bowling events, and other innovative methods to unite residents, raise money, and have a lot of fun! Events are already scheduled for February, such as, Ricky McGowan's Bowling with the Stars, on February 17, Jeffrey Mulroy's party with live music on February 16, Alex Brown's fundraiser/raffle on February 24, and Mary Ann Gaetani's Family Bowl and Adult Bowl on February 24! Information can be found in the calendar section on page __.
The 2018 Dancing with the Stars event will be held on Friday, April 6, at the Four Points Sheraton, Norwood. Tickets for the live event are always considered the hottest in town to obtain, but make no mistake, there are many steps Norwood residents can take to be a part of this exciting and worthy occasion.
