Any customer who has walked through the doors of True Value, in Norwood Center, has likely met Manager Tammie Terrasi. For those who have not patronized the store yet, you don't know what you are missing.
Terrasi began her True Value career as a salesperson when the hardware store opened its doors summer, 2015. She was soon made assistant manager, and seven months ago, became the store manager. While the store's popularity steadily grew for two years, most would agree that its reputation has exploded since Terrasi took the helm.
"True Value, a.k.a. Tammie Terrasi, is just what every small town needs on their Main Street," True Value customer Katie Reynolds said. "Tammie is the heart of True Value. I have watched her move up to manager in a short time due to her dependability, knowledge, friendliness and great marketing skills.
If customers are not immediately greeted by Terrasi's friendly smile, they are assisted by her helpful and knowledgeable, hand-picked staff. Customers receive the royal treatment from Assistant Manager TJ, and associates, Heather, Zach, Dave and Tommy. She leads by example and firmly claims her success are their successes also.
That customer service element holds the key (and yes, True Value makes ALL keys) to True Value's success and that accomplishment can all be credited to Terrasi's drive and enthusiasm.
"The most important part of my job is helping customers find what they need and teaching them about a product," Terrasi said. I grew up with a carpenter and I learned hands on."
Her approach to great service spread quickly through Town and her inviting posts on the Norwood Now Facebook page have complimented the drive in sales. Her posts include store specials, promotions and reminders of all True Value has to offer and why this local gem can be the one-stop shop for all of Norwood.
"People love coming here because it's one-on-one customer service and the sale prices are so great," Terrasi said. "When you go to the big box stores, no one knows what they are doing."
Terrasi's goal of providing the ultimate experience in local customer service has certainly been achieved. Just ask her customers.
"I want to thank you Tammie in assisting us with picking out our new Weber grill," True Value customer Elena Clough said through an online testimonial. "She was kind, very respectful and knowledgeable. We got the red carpet treatment today and every other time we've ever been to the store!. Thank you, we are very satisfied and happy customers!"
"I love your store and especially the customer service," another True Value customer Nora Glynn exclaimed. "Every time I go in, they ask me what they can help me with and I am ALWAYS immediately directed to the correct aisle."
Terrasi not only understands the 'value' of customer service, but also the significance local businesses have on the community. She often hosts fundraisers within the store, such as the Fay Scholarship and the WBN mitten and hat drive, and participates in many Norwood activities, including Norwood Day and the Red and Blue Barbeque.
"I want to help the community any way I can," Terrasi said. "It is my responsibility as a business and resident. I would hope someone would do it for me if I needed help."
