Family Promise Metrowest (FPM) is one of 100 local nonprofits to receive grants of $100,000 each through Cummings Foundation’s $100K for 100 program. Cummings Foundation’s hallmark program supports small and medium-sized nonprofits in Middlesex, Essex, and Suffolk counties.
Natick-based nonprofit, Family Promise Metrowest, is a community response to families who are homeless. FPM provides overnight shelter for families through a network of 19 surrounding host congregations, while volunteers provide food and support. Without any government funding, FPM also provides families with professional case managers and programs to help with education, training, and transitional living. Staff is supported by over 2,500 trained volunteers from congregations, schools, businesses, civic organizations, and the community at large.
“We are truly grateful to the Cummings Foundation for this generous grant to our organization,” said Susan Crossley, FPM’s Executive Director. “It isn’t often that funders will support general operational costs, yet as a growing organization, this funding will truly make a difference to our organization and the families we serve.”
Susan Crossley and Donna Angelico, Board Chair, joined approximately 300 other guests at a reception at Trade Center 128 in Woburn to celebrate the $10 million infusion into Greater Boston’s nonprofit sector. With the conclusion of this grant cycle, Woburn-based Cummings Foundation has now awarded more than $170 million to local nonprofits alone. This year’s diverse group of grant recipients represents a wide variety of causes, including homelessness prevention and affordable housing, education, violence prevention, and food insecurity.
“Nonprofit organizations like Family Promise Metrowest are vital to the local communities where our colleagues and clients live and work,” said Joel Swets, Cummings Foundation’s Executive Director. “We are delighted to invest in their efforts.”
