Farmers’ Market Returns to Medfield

Issue Date:
July, 2017
Article Body:

The Medfield Farmers’ Market has returned to the grounds of the historic First Parish Meeting House (Unitarian-Universalist), overlooking Meeting House Pond, on North St., each Thursday from 2 to 6 p.m. through September 28 Parking is available in the rear of the building and along North St.
Local and area vendors will be bringing fresh produce, seafood, eggs, specialty foods, confections, baby pigs, and beautifully crafted products by local artisans. First Parish will have its own table featuring the popular protein bites, offered last year, as well as fruit-filled hand pies, handmade organic dog biscuits, and many new delightful offerings. All proceeds from this booth go to support the maintenance of Medfield’s historic meetinghouse. Visiting the Starbuck’s booth will give the market customer an opportunity to learn about “Grounds for Your Garden” and receive FREE used coffee grinds that are PH neutral, making them a great addition to composts. The grounds, which can also be used in gardens this year, have many benefits such as repelling slugs and ants
Several special events are planned throughout the summer that will be fun for kids and adults as well.
Most of the vendors this season are new to the Medfield Market. In addition to the First Parish booth, the other returning vendor is Jordan Seafood, whose product is fresh, never frozen and sells out early in the day. Visit the market weekly to see what is new from these vendors: White Barn Farm, Pangea Cuisine (a Paleo food truck), WagMan Jamaican Jerk bar, (grill and smoker on premise), MDS Soap, Confectionary Creations (jams, pickles, spice rubs, homemade bread and cookies) and several other food vendors.
Why support local producers? In addition to healthy nutrition for your family, the food looks and tastes better, it strengthens your community ties by getting to know those who grow the food we eat and it often helps you learn more about where you could learn how food is grown. Have a great, healthy summer, support your local agriculture and area artisans to get to know more about your community.
