Holliston in Bloom Fashion Show is Back!

Fashion is in bloom once again this year in Holliston, as the Holliston in Bloom Spring Fashion Show makes its appearance on the runway of Upper Town Hall on Sunday, May 20th, from 2-4 p.m. Holliston in Bloom’s sole fundraiser of the year will feature local personalities modeling fashions from Fine Feathers Boutique, of Medway, and Joseph A. Banks, of Bellingham, as well as a handful of vintage pieces donated by the Holliston Historical Society. Admission to the event is $20, and if you can’t make it, donations are much appreciated!
Although the fashion show in the past featured only ladies, this year, gentlemen will take part. The gentlemen’s ensembles will be donated by new sponsor, Joseph A. Banks, of Bellingham.
“We decided to be a part of (the Holliston in Bloom Fashion Show), because, as a company at Joseph A. Banks., “We believe in nurturing the community,” says Bellingham store manager, Todd Dearborn. “We will be showing our formal pieces.”
Fine Feathers Boutique, of Medway, has been with the event from the get go. Andrea, owner of the Medway shop, will be dressing fashion show models in a mix of its traditional and contemporary styles, with a twist. You can find out more about Fine Feathers on Facebook or at finefeathersclothing.com.
New this year is the mix of historical pieces, thanks to the Holliston Historical Society, according to organizer Pat Duffey. She also points out that the event owes a lot to its local sponsors, who include: Holliston Superette, the Holliston Reporter, Jasper Hill Cafe and Bistro, Anthony’s on the Green, Bertucci’s, Gaetano’s, the Holliston High School music department, the Holliston High School National Honor Society, the Holliston Board of Selectmen, The Holliston Lions Club and Top Notch Bartenders and Servers. Thanks also go to Fiske’s, the Superette and the Town Clerk’s office for handling ticket sales, and to Joanne Apesos, who will be the emcee for the evening.
“This is probably our only fundraiser this year,” says Duffey, who says proceeds will fund plantings in the community. She encourages people to buy tickets or to simply make a donation, to help beautify the town.
“They could just buy a ticket for themselves or drop it off at the Holliston Pantry Shelf and give it to somebody who can’t afford to go, or the Holliston Senior Center or any other group who may have people who could use a nice afternoon out,” says Duffey. In fact, thanks to sponsors, food is free, although there will be a cash bar, and “Holliston Reporter is donating the wine,” says Duffey.
