Come out and celebrate Spring with neighbors, friends, entertainment and a little shopping at the 5th annual Holliston Springfest, sponsored by the Holliston Business Association.
“It’s about celebrating spring, getting downtown, visiting your local merchants and enjoying some family fun,” says John Paltrineri, who’s chairing this year’s event with Donna Cady, of the Candy Cottage. The Holliston Springfest will take place on Saturday, May 20th, from 9 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The event will once again feature a flea market at Blair Square, with vendors and organizations renting a 10’x10’ space for a $25 donation to a local nonprofit. That event will take place prior to the Springfest, from 7 a.m. – 1 p.m., and Bobby Blair is the contact. For more information on this event, email him at mudvillemayor@gmail.com.
Once the event starts, those strolling around town can pick up a passport at participating vendors, getting checks for each business they visit. Once these are filled out, these participants will be entered into a raffle to receive gift certificates to businesses in town.
New this year will be a music program on the town green in front of the Congregational Church, says Paltrineri. A stage will be set up on the end of the sidewalk down the middle of the green and will feature the talent of Holliston High School performers. Local organizations, such as Holliston in Bloom, will have tables set up on the green as well, and that area will be flanked by two food trucks for hungry event goers.
A new feature of the Holliston Springfest this year, in addition to the presentation of Holliston fire equipment and trucks out front of Holliston Fire Department, is the addition of a Car Show, to take place behind the fire station from 12-3 p.m. This event is being organized by Craig Fitzgerald. If you have a vehicle you’d like to see included in the car show, call him at (802) 342-3999.
The day will coincide with a “porchfest” organized by Jay Marsden, which will feature local musicians performing a variety of acts at local residences and other areas.
The Friends of Holliston Trails will hold a Photo Scavenger Hunt as well. Stop by the Friends of Holliston Trails tent in Blair Square to get the latest information on trail developments and learn how you can participate in its first Photo Scavenger Hunt! Participants who complete the scavenger hunt will be entered into a raffle to win one of 3 gift certificates to local businesses.
