Holliston Mill Open Studios 2018 November 3rd and 4th

Issue Date:
November, 2018
Article Body:

Artists at the Holliston Mill will host their annual Open Studios event on Saturday and Sunday, November 3 and 4, from 11 a.m. to 4 p.m. each day.
In a preamble to the open studios weekend, a number of the Mill’s artists will be creating some public art on the nearby Holliston Rail Trail. The Mill’s history as a shoe manufacturing company serves as inspiration for these artist-made “Shoeprises.” The public can expect the unexpected and a humorous vibe. In the week prior to and during the open studios event, the trail will offer some unique photo opportunities with the hope that social media postings of photos will help spread the word about Open Studios weekend.
Artists participating in the open studios include resident artists, as well as local guest or former resident artists. The artists ply their crafts in a multitude of media including: oil, acrylic and watercolor paints, sculpture and mixed media pieces, photography and digital media, drawing, printing, jewelry and textiles. Participants hail from Holliston and surrounding towns including Millis, Hopkinton and Wayland.
Holliston native, musician and artist Erica Leigh Stenquist will be performing on Saturday, from 11-4. Mill artist and cellist Sara Stalnaker, also of Holliston, will perform 12-1 and 3-4 on Sunday.
Light refreshments will be served in studios throughout the building both days. A craft beer and wine tasting will cap off the weekend on Sunday from 1 - 3 p.m., hosted by Crafted of Holliston.
The Holliston Mill building, an 1800’s shoe factory, is located at 24 Water St. Currently, the mill is home to several small businesses as well as artists’ studios. The structure remains largely as originally designed.
