At long last, spring is here. Warmer weather might have taken its time to arrive this year, but there’s no better sign that spring has come to Holliston than the Holliston Business Association’s Annual SpringFest, a day where the young and old of the town come out to meet and greet, enjoy some entertainment, and give local vendors their support. This year’s event will take place on Saturday, May 19th, from 11 a.m. – 5 p.m.
The day will start out with a flea market over at Blair Square from 9 a.m. to 1 p.m. This event will support Holliston in Bloom. If you’re interested in participating, contact Bobby Blair (mudvillemayor@gmail.com).
Those with young children who enjoy vehicles will once again have a great time this year, with Holliston Fire Department hosting its Apparatus Display from 1-5 p.m., and over at the town green this year will be BDR Automotive sponsoring a touch-a-truck from 12-3 p.m., and a Cool Car show during the same time.
The Green will actually be the center of entertainment and booth activity, with a range of nonprofit groups, including Holliston in Bloom, selling embossed bricks from the Andrews School as a fundraiser, The Holliston LEOs and the Holliston Lions Club, the Alzheimer’s Association, Holliston Girl Scouts, Friends of the Holliston Community Farm, I Support to Girls, Give Back to Givers, HDAAC, Holliston AgCom, Holliston PTO, Holliston Youth Cheer, Friends of the Rail Trail, and Holliston AgCom. Each booth will not only offer information, but fun activities or refreshments as well, including:
• Raffles
• “Kindness Rock” Decorating
• Slime making
• Cotton Candy, Popcorn & Contests,
• Face Painting
• Bake Sales
• Hot Dogs
• Giveaways
• Chuck a Duckie
• Cookie and Cupcake Decorating
• Make Your Own Bike Powered Smoothie
• And Balloon Animals!
What’s more, there will be musical entertainment by students from Holliston High School, and from 12-4 p.m., music, princess and dancers on the stage.
As usual, local businesses in town participating in the Spring Fest will offer special giveaways or activities. At Fiske’s for example, artists can try their hand at sidewalk chalk creations, or kids can build a clock at Hill’s Antique Clocks, while others offer entertainment, such as musical entertainment at Jasper Hill Café & Bistro all day, or samples, like at the Candy Cottage candy sampling and wine tasting over at Central Café. For a complete list of specials offered by participating businesses, please see the map on page 11.
