Bancroft Memorial Library has its own app, available from Google Play or the App Store. Search the catalog, place holds, read the newsletter, and get information on upcoming events, right from your mobile device.
New 3D Tour of the Library
Brian Wotton of Apptimenow has created a fantastic 3D tour of the Bancroft Memorial Library. The link is on the library webpage (www.hopedale-ma.gov/bancroft-memorial-library). It is amazing to wander around both floors of the library and admire the architecture.
Ongoing Monthly Library Events
Helen Symonds Book Group
The Helen Symonds Book Group meets in the Library Program Room at 1:00 PM on the first Wednesday of every month. Everyone is welcome to join the group. Please call the library at (508) 634-2209 to request a copy of the book and come join the discussion.
This month’s meeting will be Wednesday, April 5th and we will discuss Not My Father’s Son: a Memoir by Alan Cumming.

The May meeting will be Wednesday, May 3rd at 1:00 PM. The book will be Behind the Beautiful Forevers by Katherine Boo.
From the C/WMARS catalog: “Profiles everyday life in the settlement of Annawadi as experienced by a Muslim teen, an ambitious rural mother, and a young scrap metal thief, illuminating how their efforts to build better lives are challenged by religious, caste, and economic tensions.”
Author Talks:
April 3 – Cheryl Melody Baskin: Rescheduled from March, Cheryl “Melody” Baskin (www.shiftofheart.com), author and performing artist, will be at the library on Monday, April 3 at 6:30 pm to discuss her motivational book: “Shift of Heart: Paths to Healing and Love”. Her theme for the evening will be “FOLLOW YOUR DREAMS”. Cheryl Melody will share the positive messages within “SHIFT OF HEART: PATHS TO HEALING AND LOVE, encouraging everyone to go for their own heart’s longings, and weaving into her inspirational talk heart-opening music, autobiographical storytelling, poetry, inner growth tools, discussion and autograph signing of “Shift of Heart”. April 26 - Catherine Marenghi: Milford native Catherine Marenghi will discuss her memoir, Glad Farm, about growing up in a small, one-roomed house in Milford during the ‘60s on Wednesday, April 26th at 7:00PM. Catherine will have books for purchase and will gladly sign your copy. Please register for this program by calling the library at 508-634-2209.
Coloring Tuesday
Coloring is for adults, too! Join us for a relaxing time coloring in the Reference Area of the Library on Tuesday, April 11 and Tuesday, April 25 from 10-11 AM. We will provide colored pencils and coloring sheets or you may bring your own.
CookBook Club
We’re cooking Italian for our April 10th Cookbook Club meeting at 6:30pm. We will be choosing recipes from the book The North End Italian Cookbook by Marguerite Di Mino Buonopane. Come and join us for a night of red sauces, garlic and parmesan! Sara Sartori is bringing her pasta machine and will be showing us how to make homemade pasta. There is always enough to go around. It wouldn’t be true Italian if you go away from the table hungry!! First time guests, come and enjoy - no need to cook. Please call the library at 508 634-2209 to reserve your place.
Museum Pass of the Month: USS Constitution Museum
There’s always something exciting happening at the USS Constitution Museum! Daily programs led by talented Educators and Constitution crew members feature hands-on learning, crafting, and fun. Daily programs are designed for all ages. This April School Vacation Week, travel back in time and fight for free trade and sailors’ rights at the USS Constitution Museum! The Museum is located at the Charlestown Navy Yard, Charlestown, MA. Museum is opened daily 10am -5pm. While there, plan on visiting USS Constitution, the ship. The Ship hours are Thursday & Friday 2:30pm to 4:30pm and Saturday & Sunday 10:00am – 4pm Check their website for other events and programs at www.ussconstitutionmuseum.org. Wednesday Knitting & Crocheting Group
Have you been knitting for a while but want to spend time with other crafters? Do you have a project that has been waiting for you to “get around to it? “Join the Knovel Knitters for an evening of knitting & crocheting every Wednesday night from 6:00 until 7:45 PM.
Friends of the Hopedale Library Meeting
The Friends of the Hopedale Library meetings are held on the first Tuesday morning of each month. Their next meeting will be in the Library Reference Room on Tuesday, April 4th at 10:00 AM. The May meeting will be on Tuesday May 2nd. Anyone interested in helping the Library and planning our adult programming is welcome and encouraged to join them.

News from the Marjorie Hattersley Children’s Room
April 5- D.J. Mike: We’re delighted to welcome D.J. Mike to the Bancroft Memorial Library. He will entertain children, ages 3 to 6 years, with stories and his balloon animal artistry. No child will go home without a balloon creation!! Join us at 6:15pm in the Program Room.
April 8- The Bancroft Memorial Library is proud to have a Greater Milford Area Relay for Life fundraising event here on Saturday, April 8 from 10:30 to 12:30. This event, a fund raiser for Cancer research, will include stories, games, crafts, and snacks. This is a drop-in event for adults and children of all ages.
Early Spring Story Times – The week of April 3rd will be the last week of pre-school story times for early spring sessions.
Spring Story Times - will begin the week of April 24.
Tell Me a Story: for children age 3 to 6 years, will be on Tuesday afternoons at 3:30pm. This 45 minute program will include stories, music, puppets and crafts. Parents are welcome to attend. 
Toddler Time: for children age 18 to 36 months, will take place on Thursday mornings at 11am. Children will enjoy music, stories, puppets, nursery rhymes and finger plays. Parents are expected to remain with their child and invited to participate.
Registration is requested for both story times.
