The Hopedale Cultural Council invites all resident students of the Blackstone Valley area to participate in the annual 2018 Student Art Exhibition to be held on Saturday, December 1. Students who are ages three through eighteen on December 31st may enter the show. The event will be held at the Hopedale Community House, Hope Street, Hopedale. The exhibit will be open to the public from 2pm to 7pm. on Saturday, December 1st culminating with the awards presentation. The event will coincide with the outdoor Christmas tree lighting and the Winter Stroll. The annual student art exhibit is open to the public and free of charge.
The show will include five age divisions of artwork: Group l (ages 3-5); Group ll (ages 6-8); Group lll (ages 9-12); Group IV (ages 13-15); Group V (ages 16-18).
Art classifications may be submitted in the following categories: Oil, acrylic, watercolor, pencil drawing, ink drawing, pastel, crayon, sculpture, charcoal, printmaking, graphic design, fiber art and textile design, and photography.
Entries submitted must be original and created solely by the participant. All artwork will be hung on display panels and must be FRAMED (WOODEN OR PLASTIC) and WIRED (no exceptions), ready for hanging. Unframed or unwired pieces will not be accepted. No framed entry may exceed 24x36 inches, nor weigh more than twenty pounds.
The following criteria will be used as a guideline for judging the show, although not all criteria may be suitable to all classifications: Imaginative content, style, observation, originality. Qualified artists and/or instructors will judge the artwork.
Delivery of artwork will be accepted at the Hopedale Community House on Friday, November 30th from 3pm - 6pm. A limit of two pieces of FRAMED (WOODEN OR PLASTIC) and WIRED artwork will be accepted. The completed entry form must be attached to the back of each piece of work being submitted. Completed entry forms, together with the $2.00 registration fee per piece of artwork, may be dropped off or mailed to Bancroft Memorial Library, Attn: Jean Hill, 50 Hopedale Street, Hopedale, MA 01747. Deadline for receipt of entry forms is November 24th. It is imperative to pick up the artwork at the close of the exhibition on Saturday evening. The Hopedale Cultural Council or the Hopedale Community House will not be held responsible for storage of artwork left behind.
