Christmas Trees
The Ashland Lions would like to THANK ALL customers from Ashland and surrounding towns for buying our Balsams and Frazier Firs, trees and or wreaths. A special thanks to supporters that spread the word about our wonderful trees and wreaths on social media such as Facebook. The Ashland Lions tree sales are done on a completely volunteer basis, and we thank members for their time, and we also would like to give a big shout out to the AHS football team and their coaches for their help unloading trees etc. Thank You! All our profits support Mass Lions Eye Research Fund and local charities in the Ashland community.
Lions Youth Speech & Lions Peace Poster Competition
The Lions Youth Speech Competition affords high school students an opportunity to speak publicly about a topic of general interest. This year’s topic; “What is the impact of volunteerism?” Also, the Lions Peace Poster competition is ongoing and affords students age 11 thru 13 a chance to participate in an interpretation of this year’s theme “The Future of Peace.” Competition begins at the local club level and progresses through competitions at the zone, region and district levels. The 5 state wide district winners will then vie for the title of Best in State at the annual Lions State Convention, February 16 – 18, 2018.
Legacy Project
Lion Club International is celebrating its 100th anniversary. Our Ashland Lions club has decided on a project that will permanently showcase our club’s involvement in town. Four sturdy benches labeled with our Lions Club logo have been donated and installed at recreational and memorial sites around town. Lion Julian Doktor, Lion Jim Russell, Lion Tony Minucci have assembled the benches and they have now been installed around Ashland. One near the Post office, two at Stone Park and one at Ashland Healing Garden located off a trail near the Middle School. The garden is meant to memorialize the impact of the town’s Nyanza Colorant Plant Superfund site.
The Ashland Lions Club is celebrating its 50th anniversary, Chartered May 27, 1967
