On Saturday, January 21, at 7 p.m., the Copley Cats, an a cappella singing group from Boston will sing everything from standards to contemporary. The Cats recently competed on PBS’ “Sing That Thing.” The program is supported in part by a grant from the Holliston Cultural Council, a local agency which is supported by the Massachusetts Cultural Council, a state agency. The concert is free and open to all. Refreshments will be available for purchase by the Friends of the Library during the concert.
The Knitting Club meets at the library on the second Tuesday of each month from 6-8 p.m. Bring your latest project and share your patterns, techniques and expertise. Participants are asked to read the selected book and attend a discussion, either adding their own thoughts or listening. Books are available to borrow with a library card about a month prior to the discussions in regular type, large type and audio. Registration is not necessary and readers may attend as many sessions as they choose. Movie Monday on January 9 at 12:30 pm will be Florence Foster Jenkins starring Meryl Streep and Hugh Grant about a sweet but untalented woman whose dream is to sing opera. Beverages and popcorn are included. Coming up in February is One Book, One Holliston, an annual community reading program sponsored by the library. The 2017 selection is Dominic Smith’s art mystery, The Last Painting of Sara De Vos which follows the lives of two artists hundreds of years apart and their connection to one painting.
