There are many opportunities for Norwood residents to participate in Earth Day, and contribute right here in their hometown! Reserve Sunday, April 28, to help keep this wonderful town litter free and thriving! This is a fabulous opening to introduce children of the importance of preserving the environment, and making a difference right here where they live and play.
The event starts with a FREE community yoga class on the Town Common, compliments of Bethany Dupree. This is a great introduction for yoga newcomers and a great resource to try it out!
For those not familiar, ‘Plogging’ is a combination of jogging and picking up litter. Join Charles River Running with this energetic option to help clean up Norwood!
Taking center stage for the day is the Community Cleanup. Residents can choose a location of their choice and help sweep the place clean! Locations are listed below and can sign up at www.progresnorwood.org. Volunteers should be 16 years old and up. Volunteers will be provided with gloves, trash and recycling bags, and a ticket for a free slice of pizza to be redeemed before the fair starts at 11:30.
The Earth Day Fair will be held on the Town Common and will include activities, music, and more for all ages. For two hours, swap out an outgrown bike for a better size (bring your child’s gently used bike), purchase a helmit for only $5, bring small household items and laptops to the Fix-It station, all while enjoying music from The Unlikely Strummers and Band Gig School of Music.
