Superintendent Peter Sanchioni told the Natick High School Class of 2017 on June 2 that “today, gives us great hope for the future.”
In addition to thanking faculty, members of the school committee, parents, friends and the Class of 2017, Sanchioni thanked the award-winning Natick High School band under the direction of John Cice, for the introductory song, “The Horse,” and explained that he is integrating “their talents into his remarks.”
Sanchioni said, “So, you are all in this together. So, look around as this is probably the last time you will all be assembled in the same place. Natick is a great place to live, and I hope you will take that with you wherever the next stage of life brings you.”
Offering advice, Sanchioni quoted Socrates: “‘Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.’” He added, “So now look around at your classmates – find your family in the crowd. Parents look around at your friends and neighbors.”
“Know again, ‘Everyone you meet is fighting a battle you know nothing about. Be kind. Always.’ Because Kindness is always what is remembered – I’m sure that is what you remember most about your friends, family coaches, teachers, and so forth.”
“Life will bring you many struggles and challenges. Some coming at you like Darth Vader with a light saber. You can handle those challenges, and you can be a shining star of support for other people if you remember to be kind. May the force, and a great education and kindness, be with you.”
