Vote for the Best Holiday Window
Natick Center Cultural District (NCCD) will hold its 6th annual Holiday Window Contest, running through 6 p.m., Dec. 10, when voting closes. The contest offers businesses and other places downtown a chance to win the title of “Best Holiday Window 2017,” be recognized in a special ceremony, win a NCCD 2018 membership and have their business name engraved on the Holiday Window Contest trophy. Light Today’s World: Interfaith Dinner and Dialogue
The Common Street Spiritual Center will offer a vegetarian potluck dinner for the community at 6:30 pm. on Saturday, Dec. 16. The dinner, with a theme of “Light Today’s World,” will begin by lighting Hanukkah candles. Speakers from Jewish, Christian and Muslim faiths will encourage participants to share in conversations about how to “Light Today’s World.” People from all faiths and cultures are invited to bring a side dish or dessert from their culture to share. Located at 13 Common St., the Center is an inclusive, love-centered community, rooted in Christian faith and open to all faiths. Go Back in Time to
a Victorian Christmas
Step out of the hustle and bustle of the holiday season and go back to a time when the First Congregational Church was brand new—1875. Across the ocean, it was the reign of Queen Victoria, but the influence of the reign leaped to our shores to bring us many of the traditions of the season: Christmas trees and cards and carols, wreaths and ribbons and candles. Join the First Congregational Church, 2 East Central St. (on the corner of Routes 135 and 27 in downtown Natick), at 4 p.m., on Dec. 3 and 10, in our candlelit sanctuary, side by side with those in period costumes, for 45 minutes of carols and brass, favorite music and readings and experience again the peace and joy and warmth of Christmas. www.fcc1651.org/content/just-fun
The Christmas Story … Live on the Lawn
Fisk Memorial United Methodist Church, 106 Walnut St., will feature a live Christmas story outdoors with music and actors, adults and youth from the church, who play Joseph and Mary with baby Jesus in the manger and the Three Kings who come to honor the newborn Savior. The story was “written” long ago, but this retelling makes it a fresh and new experience for all! Indoors, there will be old-fashion carol singing, hot chocolate, cookies and fellowship time with family and friends. All are invited. Saturday, Dec. 16 at 4:30 p.m.
A Holiday Classic:
The Nutcracker
The Walnut Hill School for the Arts, Dance Department will present The Nutcracker at the Keiter Center for Performing Arts. Don’t miss the opportunity to see this beloved holiday classic! Eleventy Part Harmony
Wintery Songs in Eleventy Part Harmony is a collaborative group of Boston-based singers and string players who gather once a year to reinvent the sound of the holidays. With new arrangements of classics (both sacred and secular) and a throng of unlikely additions to the seasonal lexicon, Wintery Songs is anchored by major-label veterans and highly acclaimed harmony singers Jennifer Kimball and Rose Polenzani.
