Marjorie (“Margie”) Rose (Prince) Macklow, 80, of Milford passed away April 20, 2020, at the Milford Regional Medical Center due to complications from liver cancer with her loving family virtually by her side. She was the beloved wife of lifelong Milford resident Irwin B. Macklow. They celebrated 55 years of marriage this past June. Margie was born on February 27, 1940 to Harry and Mollie (Pearl) Prince and was raised in Franklin. She was very proud to be their daughter and often shared stories of being raised on the family’s cattle farm. Margie had a passion for music, singing and playing the piano. She was a student at the New England Conservatory of Music in Boston.
In addition to her husband, she leaves her three children, Donna Macklow Santo of Harrisville, RI, Attorney Jay E. Macklow and his fiancé Carrie Stevens of Grafton, and Melanie Macklow Weaver, Esquire of Milford; her five grandchildren, Ashley Santo, Mollie H. Macklow, Joshua Macklow Weaver, Jacob Michael Weaver, and Rachel Macklow; and former daughter-in-law, Kimberly Honey, all of Milford. Margie was predeceased by her son-in-law Michael Y. Weaver. According to Margie, “Mike was not a son-in-law but a son” and Carrie and Kim were like “daughters” to her. Margie also leaves her brother Harvey Prince and his wife Suzanne of Marina del Rey, CA and sister-in-law Marlene Macklow Clayton of North Kingstown, RI, and many nieces, nephews, cousins and friends.
Margie was a life member of Temple Beth Shalom in Milford and served as Past President of the B’nai B’rith Hadassah Sisterhood. Margie devoted many hours to volunteer work at the Milford Regional Hospital and the Wrentham State School. She was the Assistant Activities Director at the Milford Senior Center and a Tour Representative for Fox Tours.
Margie made friends with everyone; but nothing made her happier than time with her husband, children and grandchildren who affectionately called her “Nana”. Nana’s greatest memories were made with family around her pool and hosting holidays. As much as her kids knew she loved them, her affection for her grandchildren was even more glowing. There wasn’t a kinder, more thoughtful or caring soul and everyone around Milford knew “Margie”.
Margie was buried at the family gravesite at Mishkan Tefila Cemetery in West Roxbury. Due to Covid-19 restrictions there was no public funeral or calling hours. Her family will gather with friends at a later date to celebrate her 80th birthday and honor a life well lived.
