Opening Day for the 2017 Norwood Farmer's Market was unseasonably warm, but the vendors arrived, eager to display local produce and residents came excited for the first crop of fresh fruits and vegetables. Specialty vendors were also on hand offering a wide variety of baked goods, ready-to-cook foods and handmade products.
The Norwood Market features three local farms: Oakdale Farm, Wards Berry Farm and Freitas Farm, and their displays include fruits and vegetables, herbs, plants, farm fresh eggs, local honey, homemade jams, pickles and much more!
Many vendors, such as The Pastry Boutique and Fraulein's Bakers come to the Town Common offering homemade baked goods and Jordan Bros. Seafood returns for the freshest dinner from the sea. Valicenti Pasta Farm is selling homemade pasta and sauce and Amego, Inc. offers coffee and tea. Many unique crafters also display their wares, such as handcrafted soap and jewelry as just a sampling.
Norwood Hospital will also visit the Market two more times this season, August 22, and September 12, to host their Chef's Table, with healthy recipe demos.
"Business of the Week" and "Non Profit of the Week" also set up tables to share information on their goods and services. This opportunity is open to all interested local companies and organizations. For more information, contact Farmer's Market Manager Laurie Shea, at  laurie@norwoodfarmersmarket.com. or 781-603-6771.
Blue Hills Bank is again graciously sponsoring the Market this year and a bank representative is available to explain and provide their financial rates, programs and services.
The Norwood Farmer's Market is a fabulous resource for local residents to enjoy all the local flavors of Norwood and the surrounding area as well as gaining valuable information about local businesses and organizations. The Market will be on the Town Common every Tuesday afternoon, 12-5:30 p.m., through Oct. 3.
A Tuesday afternoon visit is healthy, entertaining, informative, fun...and FREE!
