About our speaker: Dr. Potee is a Greenfield MA physician and chair of the Healthcare Solutions Committee of the Franklin County/North Quabbin Opioid Task Force. She will speak at this community forum on brain development and risk taking behavior.
Dr. Potee’s expertise in adolescent brain development and its impact on teenage risk taking, including alcohol and substance use, has been featured nationally in 2014 and 2015. She blends scientific research with a hands-on understanding of the challenges of raising healthy teens. She received the Community Clinical of the Year Award in 2015 from the Franklin District Medical Society, a part of the Massachusetts Medical Society. Dr. Potee is the school physician for the Pioneer Valley Regional School District (Towns of Leyden, Northfield, Warwick and Bernardstown, MA) and the medical director for the Franklin County House of Corrections.
Parents/guardians, grandparents, relatives and anyone who interacts with middle- and high school-aged students are urged to attend. Attendees will gain insight into how the teen brain develops and functions, and how to apply this knowledge in daily interactions with teens.
