The Rotary Club of Natick is holding its Tour de Natick, a 6- or 25-mile ride, starting on the Natick Common, on Father’s Day, June 18. The long ride starts at 8 a.m.; the short ride starts at 11 a.m. The ride is followed by a barbeque.
Tour de Natick is in its 14th year, and has funded over $140,000 in scholarships; over 4,000 personalized dictionaries have been distributed to Natick third graders. Monies raised also go to fund a virtual backpack to the PTO of the school that gets the most riders. This year there will also be an opportunity for more money to be raised with students getting sponsorship with monies again going back to their respective schools.
The ride also funds the “Make a Difference” program in the middle school and high school. Funds raise are distributed on a case-by-case basis to help students in need take part in programs that they may not ordinarily have the opportunity to do.
The Rotary Club of Natick is part of an international non-profit organization, which believes in “Service Above Self.” The club takes action in matters of healthcare, including Polio vaccination, providing clean drinking water, nutritional food, and education. To learn more, visit natickrotary.org or come to a meeting, Tuesdays, 12:15 p.m. at the Dolphin Restaurant.
