Every Sunday afternoon and Monday evening, approximately 100 residents from Ashland and surrounding towns gather for bingo run by the Ashland Fire Department Association at the Ashland VFW, 311 Pleasant St.
The Association ran bingo for over 20 years at Ashland’s Gamewell Building, where they had 8,000-sq. feet of space and accommodated 300 people. When the building was sold, the group moved out of town for a few years and then moved back two years ago when they were able to secure space at the VFW.
Last fall, the Association celebrated its 30th anniversary.
Wayne Richards, the Association’s bingo coordinator for over 20 years, would like to see the number of participants grow. The proceeds from the games benefit the local community: the Ashland Food Pantry, the Ashland Fire Department Scholarship Fund, and the firemen’s boot drive.
Games are held each Sunday, 1 to 4 p.m., and Monday evenings, 6:45 to 10 p.m. Food is provided by Marconi’s Catering. For more information and game details, visit https://mi1515.wixsite.com/ashlandbingo or call Richards at 508-410-8547.
