The Friends of the Ashland Library (FAL) will hold their annual meeting on Thursday, May 23, 7 to 8:30 p.m., in the Ashland Public Library, Community Room, 66 Front St. The volunteer organization will celebrate the accomplishments of the past year. Light refreshments will be served. The public is invited to attend.
The Friends run programs for all ages and raise money through book and cupcake sales, grants, contributions and annual memberships. This year, the all-volunteer group:
Increased its adult offerings with a wider variety of adult art workshops and piano recitals
Added several new museum passes: Sturbridge Village, Zoo New England, the JFK Museum, Tower Hill Botanical Gardens and Davis Farmland
Collaborated with the Ashland Senior Center to present a foreign policy discussion group
Continued Courageous Conversations, in collaboration with Decisions at Every Turn; Friday night films; and a monthly documentary film and discussion series on current topics.
