The Ashland Board of Health (BOH) on April 3 announced Janet Gamache as the 2019 Mary Mortensen Public Health Award recipient.
The BOH proclamation cited Gamache’s commitment to GreenUp Ashland—Ashland’s Earth Day celebration and town-wide clean-up day—since its inception 15 years ago and her commitment to the citizens of the community by bringing her service dog, Lydia, for “hundreds of visits to area nursing homes, schools and libraries.”
The proclamation said that Gamache, “through her many years of public service and dedication to the wellness and beautification of the community, exemplifies how the act of volunteerism can make a difference in a community.”
Gamache has been an Ashland resident for 21 years.
