Many families in our town depend on the generous donations of all the fixings to create their special holiday meal. Last year, Holliston Newcomers & Neighbors coordinated the donations and assembly of over 150 Thanksgiving Baskets that were distributed by the Holliston Pantry Shelf as well as Head Start and other Holliston organizations. Thanks to all the generous donations, the baskets included all the fixings including canned & fresh vegetables, coffee & tea, mixes for brownies & breads, a fresh pie and a gift certificate to buy a turkey.
Many thanks are due to the local organizations and companies that have already committed to doing their part. Boston International will donate the napkins, Table Talk Pies will donate the pies and the Holliston Historical Society will again give us the use of the barn for the week of the basket assembly. Plus, many local churches, scout troops, and businesses have offered to collect the needed non-perishables within their groups as well as be drop-off locations.
Even with all this help, we still need more donations to satisfy all the needs of these deserving families. You can support our efforts through monetary & non-perishable item donations by either shopping during our food drive at Shaw’s in Ashland on Saturday, Nov 2nd (9 a.m.-4 p.m.) or dropping items off at one of our many Holliston locations. All donations large and small go a long way.
For monetary donations, please visit the HNN Thanksgiving Baskets webpage http://www.hollistonnewcomers.org/thanksgiving-baskets or if you would prefer to mail your donation, please send a check made out to Holliston Newcomers & Neighbors to Katrine Giroux, 147 Mohawk Path, Holliston. For non-perishable item donations, there are many drop-off locations around Holliston. Here is the list of needed non-perishable items and drop-off locations. Drop-off deadline is Sunday, Nov 17th to allow time to get our final count and fill-in where needed before assembly day. Plus, gift cards to Shaw’s or Market Basket are always welcome.
