Upswing Farm is entering its second season farming at 28 South St in Ashland. Although the majority of the farm land is in Holliston, Upswing loves the Ashland community, and is excited that a little sliver of the land, including the workshop and mailbox, is in town.
“Upswing Farm is a little farm with lofty goals,” Brittany Sidway Overshiner, farm owner and founded, said. “We strive to grow high-quality, delicious produce that delights and empowers our customers to eat more fresh, local food. This year we will also grow and sell vigorous vegetable, flower and herb transplants to help home gardeners realize bountiful harvests.”
“We’ve got big plans for our 2017 season,” Brittany said. Her husband Kevin will be working on the farm full time and they are doubling their production goals since last year, which was successful, although somewhat challenging because of the drought. Over the winter, with the help of friends, Kevin built a new greenhouse to grow their own seedlings in spring. Brittany wasn’t able to help much with construction because Harvey, the newest member of the Overshiner family, was born Jan. 25th!
Upswing Farm currently offers spring, summer and fall CSA shares. If the growing season goes well, it will offer winter shares, too. Seedling sale dates are May 13, 14, 20 and 21.
