Make plans to attend a kid’s fair and campout on June 10-11, 2017, at Willow Brook Farm in Holliston to help fight the battle against cancer. The event at Willow Brook Farm, known as Camping for a Cure, will be a fundraiser for Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation’s Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC) team.
The PMC is a bike-a-thon that brings together thousands of impassioned cyclists, committed volunteers, generous donors and dedicated corporate sponsors to provide the resources necessary to discover cures for all types of cancer. Currently, five farmers and open space supporters are set to ride more than 750 combine for MFBF and for those who can’t on Aug. 5 & 6, 2017.
All the funds raised for the PMC will go to cancer research through the Dana-Faber Cancer Research Institution and the Jimmy Fund. For more information on the PMC, please visit www.pmc.org.
To help the MFBF team generate funds, Willow Brook Farm is one of five farms across the Commonwealth set to host Camping for a Cure on June 10-11, 2017.
At the Camping for a Cure event, young families will have the opportunity to experience farm life. Willow Brook Farm will host a children’s fair during the afternoon of June 10, during which an obstacle course, a petting farm, a wagon ride, face painting and more may be held. After a day full of these terrific activities, a camp-out will be held in the evening where a movie will be shown.
The families who attend this event will leave the campsite with a stronger relationship with raising livestock and equine in particular. They will get to meet and talk with Nancy Dubin who owns and operates Willow Brook Farm at 1070 Washington Street.
“We are pleased to have Willow Brook Farm host this event,” said MFBF President, Ed Davidian, who farms in Northborough. “Cancer is a terrible disease that does not discriminate. By hosting a campout like this one, we are working to keep our consumers and their families healthy, just like we do every day of the year when we provide food for them.”
If a family attends these events, they are not required to campout. A family can come for the afternoon between 3 to 5 p.m. and stay for as long as they want. If a family chooses to campout, MFBF asks that they make plans to bring their own tent and camping supplies.
