Tri-County Awarded Grant from Silvio Cella Family Foundation

Tri-County Regional Vocational Technical High School has been chosen as one of four regional 2017 recipients of the Silvio Cella Family Foundation grant. The grant program provides high school football teams in Massachusetts funding to help improve playing conditions, increase player safety and participation, purchase needed equipment, and build teamwork, pride and confidence.
Annually, four high school football programs are selected to each receive a $3,000 grant to be used to support their football programs, per MIAA (Massachusetts Interscholastic Athletic Association) guidelines. Three Tri-County Football team players, Juniors Robert Fryar and William Silver both of Plainville and Zack Spencer of Walpole, as well as Head Coach Anthony Mazzola, were presented with the award. Other 2017 recipients of the Silvio Cella Family Foundation grants included Tech Boston Academy, Worcester North High and Holyoke High School.
“The Silvio Cella Family Foundation Grant awarded to Tri-County’s football program will provide us with updated equipment that will benefit our athletes from a teaching and safety standpoint by improving proper tackling and blocking techniques. These techniques will help reduce and hopefully prevent head and neck injuries and specifically concussions, said Tri-County Head Coach Anthony Mazzola. “We are so grateful to be a recipient of this grant which will benefit our players and program immensely.”
