Five Massachusetts Farm Bureau Federation (MFBF) members demonstrated their dedication to cancer research this weekend by riding more than 900 miles in the Pan-Mass Challenge (PMC). This bike ride raises funds to provide Dana-Farber’s doctors and researchers the necessary resources to discover cures for all types of cancer.
“Congratulations to our entire team, which successfully finished the Pan-Mass Challenge on Sunday,” said MFBF President Ed Davidian, who farms in Northborough. “These individuals work full-time jobs and aren’t professional athletes. For them to ride more than 900 miles combined in two days’ time is very impressive, and I want to extend my fullest congratulations to them.”
Riders included: Michael Davidian, Northborough farmer, Heidi Cooper, Rochdale farmer, Ryan MacKay, Holden farmer, Billy Chase, Dunstable farm assistant, John Conners, MFBF staff.
Their ride was possible in part through a fundraiser known as Camping for a Cure that held across the Commonwealth on June 10, 2017. Between the fundraiser and efforts from the riders, the team has raised more than $30,000.
A special thanks to the following farms who supported the team by holding Camping for a Cure:
Davidian Bros Farm in Northborough
Nourse Farms in Whately
Pine Island Farm in Sheffield
Sauchuk Farm in Plympton
Willow Brook Farm in Holliston
This team and fundraisers were also made possible by donations from the following companies: Farm Credit East, Farm Family Insurance, Wegman’s, Cabot Creamery, United Site Services
