The magic bug bit Fran Flynn’s place over 40 years ago, when he was just 12 years old.
“I started at an early age. I used to go to the Worcester YMCA – there was a gentleman there, Steve Daquiri, who was learning to be a magician himself,” says Flynn, “He sparked my interest, and the rest is history.” Flynn himself found himself at the library, reading up on how to perform a magic show.
That same year, Flynn invited friends to his basement for his first show. Those free home performances, he says, taught him a lot.
“I learned how to say things, and it helped me establish so I wouldn’t have stage fright and could learn how to pick volunteers. It was a big help,” he says.
Nowadays, Flynn keeps magic alive, because he truly loves kids.
“I truly, truly, love children. They’re so honest, and I love to make children happy,” says the magician, who has two children and two grandchildren. His shows are geared toward children aged 4-10 or a large family audience. “To me, the best sight is seeing children laugh and be happy. They bring me a ton of joy, they really do.”
Flynn, who was featured in 55+ Magazine, performs at five restaurants every week, making balloon animals and performing magic at tables. At his show during the Holliston Holiday Stroll, Flynn will magically produce a live dove and a live rabbit, and he’ll ask for volunteers from the audience.
Fran Flynn will perform at Holliston Upper Town Hall on stroll day, from 1:30-2:30 p.m. For more information on where else you can see Fran Flynn the Magician, visit franflynn.com.
