Holiday Hours
In observance of Veteran’s Day, the Library will be closed on Saturday November 11th. The Library will close at 4 PM on Wednesday November 22rd – we will be open from 1-4 PM only. The Library will be closed on Thursday November 23th for Thanksgiving. 
Do You Have Fines On Your Library Card?
The Bancroft Memorial Library will be offering “Food for Fines” from November 6th through November 24th. For each non-perishable item donated we will forgive $1.00 in fines. Please note that this cannot be used toward missing or lost items. The items collected will go to the Milford Food Pantry. 
Library App
Bancroft Memorial Library has its own app, available from Google Play or the App Store. Search the catalog, place holds, read the newsletter, and get information on upcoming events, right from your mobile device.

Sign up for weekly emails featuring all new items added to the library collection! Books, DVD’s; music CD’s; audio books – everything new added each week is listed and you can immediately place holds on the items. Did You Know – the library has free wi-fi available on both levels? Tables on the libraries’ main floor have electric plugs under the table if you need to charge your mobile device while you work – or play. Ask at the circulation desk if you need help accessing the wi-fi.
NEW I-PAD available for in-library use: Come in and use our new i-pad for browsing, reading email or just to see how it works. Check it out for using in the library on the library wi-fi system. Desk staff will be glad to help you get started!
Ongoing Monthly Events
Helen Symonds Book Group
The Helen Symonds Book Group meets in the Library Program Room at 1:00 PM on the first Wednesday of every month. Everyone is welcome to join the group. Please call the library at (508) 634-2209 to request a copy of the book and come join the discussion. This month’s meeting will be Wednesday, November 1 at 1:00 PM. The discussion book will be I Liked My Life by Abby Fabiaschi.
The next meeting will be Wednesday, December 6th at 1:00 PM. The book will be a non-fiction memoir: Hillbilly Elegy: a memoir of a family and culture in crisis by J.D. Vance. From the C/WMARS catalog: “Shares the story of the author’s family and upbringing, describing how they moved from poverty to an upwardly mobile clan that included the author, a Yale Law School graduate, while navigating the demands of middle class life and the collective demons of the past.”
CookBook Club
Turkey and stuffing and gravy, oh my!! What to do with all of those leftovers! We have reached the holiday season and we need some HELP!! Please join us on Monday, Nov. 27th at 6:30pm for some new ideas for everyday meals to make with leftovers. We will be choosing recipes from the book Love Your Leftovers by Nick Evans. First time guests come and enjoy the meal! No need to cook! Please call the library at 508-634-2209 to reserve a place at the table.
Wednesday Knitting & Crocheting Group
Have you been knitting for a while but want to spend time with other crafters? Do you have a project that has been waiting for you to “get around to it? “Join the Knovel Knitters for an evening of knitting & crocheting every Wednesday night from 6:00 until 7:45pm.
What’s Happening in the Blackstone Valley?
Looking for fun activities close to home? Check out the new Visitor Information Display in the library lobby. Thanks to Blackstone Heritage Corridor, Inc. and Blackstone Valley Chamber of Commerce we have a great new display stand with brochures and booklets about local events and sponsors.
Blackstone River Valley National Park information is also available. Are you collecting passport stamps for your National Parks passport book or the Blackstone River Valley passport booklets? The Library and Red Shop have the Hopedale stamp for your passport. Check It Out!
Friends of the Hopedale Library Meeting
The Friends of the Hopedale Library meetings are held on the first Tuesday morning of each month. Their next meeting will be in the Library Reference Room on Tuesday, November 7th at 10:00 am. Anyone interested in helping the Library and planning our adult programming is welcome and encouraged to join them.
The Friends of the Hopedale Library was founded in 1983. They work with the Library staff and Trustees to support the Library by providing funds for equipment, materials and programs not covered by the regular operating budget. They offer adult events September- June, pay for the children’s summer reading and for other programs. New members are always welcome! Saturday, November 18, 2017, 10 am - 2 pm     Book and Bake Sale and Raffle
The Friends of the Hopedale Library are pleased to announce the semi-annual Book and Bake Sale on Saturday, November 18th from 10 am - 2 pm. You do not need to be a member of The Friends of the Hopedale Library to attend! Books will be sold for the great price of $10 per bag.  Donations of baked goods are welcome. Bakers will be able to enter the book sale room first on Saturday morning. Baked goods can be dropped off from 1 pm to 5 pm on Friday, November 17th or on Saturday starting at 9:30 am. Raffle tickets will also be on sale for gift baskets. The baskets will on view at the library starting on November 6th. Tickets will be $1 each or 6 tickets for $5. Tickets will be on sale until Friday, November 24th when the winners are picked. There is something for everyone!   
Sunday, December 10, 2017, 2 pm    All4Won Holiday Concert and Afternoon Tea
Please join us on Sunday, December 10th from 2-3 for an afternoon tea and holiday concert with the local acapella quartet All 4WoN. This special event will take place in the upstairs Reading Room. Refreshments will be served and the program will last approximately an hour. Cookies, tea and hot chocolate will be provided. To reserve your seat please call the library at 508-634-2209 or stop by the upstairs registration desk. Seats are limited!
News from the Marjorie Hattersley Children’s Room
“Tell Me a Story”, for children age 3-6 years, will meet on Tuesdays at 3:30pm, beginning November 7th.  This program includes stories, crafts, and flannel board stories. 
“Book-Its” – for children in grades K-3, meets on Wednesdays at 3:30pm. This program includes stories, poems, word games and crafts.
“Tot Time”, for little ones, age 18 months to 3 years, will meet on Thursday mornings at 11 am, beginning November 9th. During this half-hour program, children will enjoy music, puppets, stories and rhymes.  Parents are asked to contact Mrs. Kraimer for details or to register.
“Check It Out” program celebration – the winning class will celebrate on Wednesday, November 8th, at 6:15pm.
