The Town of Natick received the designation of "Cultural District" in 2012, thus the Natick Center Cultural District was born. We were part of the 14 original districts in the Commonwealth and this summer, our five-year designation was scheduled for renewal. We submitted our application as a district and received notice in September from the Mass Cultural Council that Natick received the "Cultural District" designation for another 5 years!
You might be wondering, "What is a Cultural District?"... We support the arts, artists, culture and downtown businesses with events like Natick Nights, Multicultural Day, public art like the painted electrical boxes, partner with Natick Recreation and Parks to sponsor Natick Days, Spooktacular and help promote Natick Artists Open Studios. Just to name a few!
"How does being a 'Cultural District' help our town?" ... Having a strong arts and cultural presence in town creates a dynamic environment for businesses and adds to the livability of a community. It's also free for to all residents to experience in many varied ways.
We plan to continue in this mission over the next 5 years, and if you'd like to join us, we offer a yearly membership of only $25 per person or $50 per family. We appreciate all support as we continue to make arts and culture an ever-increasing part of our town.
