S.T.E.A.M. STORY TIMES:
Friday mornings from 10:30 – 11:15 a.m. For kids age 3 ½ - 6, No registration needed. January topics include “Animals That Build Their Homes,” Warm Blooded vs. Cold Blooded,” “Ice Bergs” and “Symbiosis.”
LAP SIT:
Wednesdays mornings from 10:15 to 10:45 a.m. For Infants and Toddlers through age 3 ½., Join us for stories, songs & fingerplays. This is a very large group and space is limited. Free tickets are handed out as people arrive.
READ-TO-A-DOG:
New session added! Mondays, Jan. 8th & 22nd and Tuesdays Jan. 2nd, 16th, and 30th 6:30 – 7:30 p.m., Kids of all ages can improve their oral reading skills by reading to one of our certified therapy dogs. Names are taken in order of arrival, and each child will have a 10-15 minutes, depending on how many kids come.
YOUNG FAMILIES:
Saturday, Jan. 13th 10:30 a.m., All ages, Stefilia’s Little Stones, This music duo delights with their original songs and remakes of songs that kids love to sing. Space is limited. Free tickets will be handed out near the Children’s Room starting at 10 a.m. the day of the program.
YMCA PLAY, LEARN
& GROW GROUP:
Tuesdays 11 – 12 or Thursdays 11 – 12 Infants through age 5. You may attend one program per week. This program is offered at the Library by the Metrowest YMCA for children and their caregivers. Sensory play, music, stories, crafts, socialization and more. Space is limited. Free tickets are handed out as people arrive.
LEGOS CLUB:
Thursday, Jan. 11th & 25th 3:15 – 4:30 p.m. Kids of all ages build creations using the Library’s huge stash of Legos. The finished creations are displayed in the Children’s Room for several weeks. Kids younger than Grade 3 must be with an adult.
HOMEWORK HELPERS:
Thursdays evenings at 6 p.m. (No program during School Vacation Week.) Ashland High School students will mentor elementary students. Sponsored by the Friends of the Library and the Children’s Department.
TEENS:
ANIME CLUB: Thursday Jan. 4th from 5:30–7 p.m. Anyone between the ages of 10 and 18 is welcome to join. Refreshments are served.

Developmental Approach to Parenting Thursday, January 18th 7 p.m. Psychologist Jane Greenstein will lead us in an interactive discussion of how to parent with a developmental lens. Learn what is happening at the different stages of childhood and how to adjust parenting to match the skills that children have (and don’t yet have) at these different stages. Held in the Library’s large meeting room.
Courageous Conversations: Let’s Talk About Trauma Tuesday, January 30th
What are the symptoms of trauma? Does every survivor of something terrible experience trauma? What is PTSD, and how is it different from trauma? This interactive workshop includes a panel of local trauma experts and World Cafe style small group discussions to explore how trauma impacts ourselves and our community, and what we can do to increase ability to cope. Held in the Ashland High School Library.

12th Annual Senior Watercolor Exhibit by Ashland Senior Citizens through January 12, 2018
This exhibit features watercolor paintings done by Ashland senior citizens in Suzanne Meeker’s painting classes held at the Ashland Senior Center.
Topography: Memory and Time Oil Paintings by Patricia Romeo January 17 - February 24
As a form of inspiration, Ashland resident Patricia Romeo has chosen to depict art based on her memories of the three places that she has lived in the Berkshires; North Adams, Adams, and Williamstown.

“Mosaic Art” by Stephen Bergeron December 5, 2017 - February 26, 2018
Framingham artist Stephen Bergeron has been doing mosaic art for the past few years. It is a process of exploration & discovery, fun and gratification.
On extended loan, in the downstairs conference room and the large meeting room, are the photographs by Bill Horsman, a commercial and fine art photographer.
FRONT STREET READERS:
The Front Street Readers book discussion group meets (usually) on the 4th Tuesday of the month at the Library at 7 p.m. The next title will be Following Atticus, by Tom Ryan which will be discussed on January 2nd.
The Other Side of the Bridge, by Mary Lawson, will be discussed on January 30th.
WEDNESDAY NIGHT READERS:
The Wednesday Night Readers meets to discuss a book (usually) every other month. The Gatekeeper: Missy LeHand, FDR, and the untold story of the partnership that defined a presidency, by Kathryn Smith, which will be discussed on Jan. 17th at 6:30 p.m.
